Starting to look good…

After many years of thinking ‘what should my site actually offer/do’, I finally think that the quiz section is looking favourable.

Ive have had significant interest from my facebook friends who have visited and taken part in the quiz already.

So,  with that, and as mentioned before, I’m going to carry on with the quizzes.

:o)

Seeing the light…

Seeing the light…

Finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel with themes.

After wading through countless lines of CSS, I have finally managed to make the member layouts and colors more readable.
I’ve also started adding a few bits of content, starting with Chuckles.

Chuckles was initially meant to be a standalone site (Chuckles ‘n’ Such), but I wanted it all ‘in house’ so people didn’t have to re-register or keep logging in to different parts of the site.

That’s all the work I plan to do today as I’m completely knackered and need sleep ;o)

Member section theming…

Member section theming…

Currently working on the membership/profile page so it is easily viewable.  At the moment,  the ‘out-of-the-box’ theming is terrible and difficult to view.   This should be completed by the end of the week.

Changes…

Changes…

After a lot of time thinking about the direction of the site/domain,  I have decided to make some dramtic changes to the way the site looks and operates.

Firstly,  I have changed the platform of the site from ocPortal over to WordPress.
This is a change that hasn’t been made likely.
The main reason for the change is,  I believe,  that whilst ocPortal did what I wanted it to do, WordPress offers exponentially more flexibility from its vast array of plugins and not just from it’s “out-of-the-box” system.
Secondly,  and perhaps more importantly, is the issues of compatibility with the software.
I had noticed a few issues which prevented my site from operating as it should,  which didn’t occur on previous releases of the software.  Subsequently,  ocPortal has announced the it’s successor ‘composr’ would be taking of the reins,  however,  the issue I have still remains within the software.

All-in-all,  I believe,  that despite the challenges that lay ahead,  switching to WordPress is going to be more rewarding long-term.
So for now,  please feel free to negotiate the site,  and keep coming back for regular updates.

Cheers
