Another month, another news spot…
According to the site stat report RBCSoftware has had fewer visits this month…however since February the site has had WELL OVER 300,000 hits to date.
Now with the fact that this site has never had any advertising done for it, and the site is not 100% up and running, thats pretty damn good I think!!!
All the stats will be updated for the monthly review, which you can view on this site, just follow the links…

As the time looms ever closer to my departure from work, I have been forced to ask myself some few questions. Namely, what am I to do regarding a career? At 27 things seem doom and gloom when I think about it, but I am seriously thinking of getting Microsoft certification to help toward a brighter future for not only myself but for my daughter too. Its seems only too easy to get yourself into a rutt, but very very hard to get out of it, so I am just gonna have to do my best…
Still, the site is developing ok still, I seem to be getting rid of trivial glitches ok. At the moment I am studying other sites to see what makes them tick, the design, colors etc to get a feel of what a site should be…
Other news, after managing (somehow) to buy a replica sword from Ebay for just 99p, I decided to take a few photos, so when I get chance I will upload them to the gallery. The sword itself is from “The Highlander” film, you will know what I mean when you see it.
Other top purchases (yes I have been spending my firebox vouchers again) is “Racing grannies”, again keep checking the photo albums :o)
Well, 2am, still not tired…I think I will watch WWE if its on…
bye for now…….

After having a real crappy week last week, what with me having no internet access and some personal issues, I decided just to say to hell with it all and go with the flow.
Its seems of late, too difficult to keep up with things as I would hope to. After finally regaining my net access, I have update only trivial things and as such nothing is noticable at present, still, as always could be worse!
I have been racking my brains of what to put in this news section but I seem to have a mental block at the moment, soooo, I am going to rest my sleepy head and call it a day…

Todays news is a little bit sad really…For personal reasons, I am having to leave my
current employment. This means the future of RBCSoftware is a little uncertain to say the
least and I dont know if I will have funding available to continue the project.

I only hope that it can.

At this stage it is purly a case of, “hangin on in there” until something is in place.
Of course I will continue to update the site as much as I can, where ever possible so
please keep coming back :o)

Other news, I have yet again changed the look slightly of the site and more will follow. I
now have the code behind the site (which I am always tweaking), so now I am concentrating
on the look of the site.

As it is my “computer night” tonight, it should be changed over the weekend (fingers
crossed!!!).

I have been told also, that I cannot run competitions on this site as I need a gaming
licence. Now to be fair, I am looking into it, so this months compo will stand until its
end date, if it is found to be breaching certain “laws” I will be remove that feature of
the site and no more compos will be run.

After reading an article in my computer magazine, I was shocked to find a section that said “Visual Basic 6 is now dead”.
Well, in the programming industry, I appreciate that things come and go, new tools are developed to make the lives of programmers easier etc, but I am a firm believer that most old things should not be left to graze the pastures and rot into history.
Take “BASIC” as an example, not many people still code in “BASIC” (in the raw sense) because there are so many “Front end” programs that shorten the process of development time down and make code easier to handle in nice modules etc…
However, I am still confident that VB6 has a lot to offer, and even though I am learning VB .NET (as well as PHP) I will still be using VB6 for the majority of my work.
Rant over…
I went to see the new “Pirates of the Carribean” today, quite good, not as good as the first. Still, I cant wait for the third installment!!! Thats all I will say, I dont want to spoil it for anyone.

Well, things are running smooth again…touch wood.
I have mainly tweaked members and a few of the admin settings so there is more control all round.
I have uploaded some new avatars too, so feel free to see what is a available.
I did have an idea at work about creating interactive “cyber” pets for the website, I must have been falling to sleep or something…but, you never know.
As always when I write the news, I either have nothing to say or I am doing it very late into the night. It just so happens that its now 1.46am and I have to say, I am starting to get tired…
So sorry people, the news is going to have to wait a little bit longer.
Yyyyawn!

After checking what is left to do on the site, I can see that the guestbook is failing due to a database error (for a change).
After the problems I had, I completly wiped the DB and restored from backup, however the guestbook didnt restore properly.
Doesnt matter anyway because I was thinking of scrapping it ready for another idea…
More soon…

Well, after a major, MAJOR database failure, I have managed to update, edit and otherwise “make work” the site.
The main reason of the DB failure is unclear, but I have learnt a very valuable lesson.
“Always backup you DBs”

As you can probrobly see, the member pages are very minimalistic at the moment. This was planned however as I wanted to rework the thinking of members pages.
If everything works, and no more problems occur, this should be online shortly.

I would just like to thank everyone who continued to visit even though things werent great.
